Sean Corcoran believes that family comes second only to God. It is this foundation which guides him in his life and in the practice of law. Sean lived all over the country before settling in Lake Charles with his family when he was twelve years old. He attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven School, Barbe High School, and McNeese State University before earning a law degree from Louisiana State University Law Center. Sean was very active in law school, and his third year was elected by the student body as the Executive President of the Student Bar Association.
After passing the bar exam, Sean was employed by Hunter, Hunter & Sonnier in Lake Charles, where he was introduced to the practices of Family Law and Personal Injury Law. Sean became passionate about both of these areas of law because they both provide opportunities to genuinely help people in need.
In January of 2015 was given the opportunity to serve as an Assistant District Attorney for Calcasieu Parish; a position which he maintains today. Additionally he opened Corcoran Law Firm where his private practice focuses on Family Law and Personal Injury Law, as well as General Civil Law matters with which the people of Lake Charles, Sulphur, Moss Bluff, and all of Southwest Louisiana may need assistance.
Sean is married to Dr. Michelle Swift Corcoran of Lake Charles, and the couple has one son, John Francis. The family attends Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, where Sean serves as a lector and is active in the ACTS community. Sean is a past board member of the Literacy Council of Southwest Louisiana and of Rebuilding Together Calcasieu, and is currently sits on the board of the Calcasieu Parish Communications District. Sean is also the Treasurer of the Young Lawyers Division of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association.
Starting in the Fall semester of 2015, Sean will be a visiting lecturer at McNeese State University teaching Business Law.
